Renowned actor Hussein Fahmy, President of Cairo International Film Festival, held a discussion session with Mr. Cui Yan, Executive Director of the Organizing Committee of Beijing International Film Festival and General Manager of the Festival Company. The session aimed to discuss mechanisms for developing bilateral relations and cultural exchange.

The meeting focused on establishing practical steps to revitalize the ongoing cooperation agreement between the two festivals, ensuring the opening of new horizons for filmmakers in both countries. Discussions addressed the details of Chinese presence in the upcoming edition of Cairo International Film Festival, including proposals to host prominent names from the Chinese film industry to participate in the juries.

The talks extended to include coordination for screening a curated selection of Chinese films within the festival’s diverse programs, providing the Egyptian audience with an opportunity to explore the Asian cinematic scene.

At the conclusion of the meeting, actor Hussein Fahmy extended an official invitation to Mr. Cui Yan to attend the events of the upcoming edition of Cairo International Film Festival, scheduled to take place from November 11 to 20, 2026, under the auspices of the Egyptian Ministry of Culture. He offered his apologies for not being able to accept the invitation to attend the 16th edition of Beijing International Film Festival, scheduled for this April, due to a prior commitment to shoot a Chinese film during the same period.
