 In 1950s Baghdad, schoolteacher Said Effendi moves with his family to a new neighborhood after being evicted. Tensions quickly arise with his neighbor, Abdullah the shoemaker, due to conflicts between their children. Said must navigate growing hostility while trying to raise his children with values and maintain peace in the community.

 He was a pioneering Iraqi filmmaker known for Saïd Effendi (1957), a landmark in Iraqi cinema. A former photographer, he portrayed Baghdad’s social life with depth and realism. Though he passed away years ago, his legacy continues to inspire generations of Iraqi filmmakers.
