Synopsis

 Archival films from 1950s Kenya turn settler homes into lenses on the Mau Mau uprising, revealing how Western cinema cast anti-colonial resistance as villains in their own struggle for freedom. 

About the Director

 Iranian Geneva-based director Hosein Jalilvand researches cinema and imperialism as twin forces born in the 19th century, creating films tracing their evolution. In 2016, he joined DocNomads. His short Song of the Bell (2018) won Best Director at DocLisboa.
