Synopsis
Returning from medical studies in Germany, Ismail opens a clinic in Cairo’s Sayyida Zainab district. When his modern methods clash with the locals’ faith in the sacred oil of Umm Hashim’s lamp, he learns to reconcile science with tradition.

About the Director
He was an Egyptian director and screenwriter who began his artistic career in the 1940s after working in journalism. He joined Studio Misr and worked as an assistant to major directors like Salah Abu Seif. He directed approximately 25 feature films, notably including Qandeel Om Hashem (1968) and Abid Al-Gassad (1962).
